I have been delighted to be appointed the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services at Kent County Council. It has been a great experience over the last two years to be the Cabinet Member for Public Health and I relish this new challenge.
There are massive challenges for social services across the UK. One of the big challenges that I face is to lobby the Labour Government to properly fund the needs of elderly people - especially those in the South East of England. For too long funds have been moved by the Labour Government from the south east to their heartlands in the Midlands and the north of England.
