I had a very enjoyable break and one of the highlights was really getting to grips with the new wood burning Rayburn stove that I have recently purchased to provide heating and cooking for my home.
I am hoping that I will be able to be fully wood based although I may need to use some limited Anthracite to further back up in very cold weather.
Just for the record I have added a picture of the new wood burner and it has been especially useful during this especially cold weather.
I have always sought to promote the green agenda and heating the house with the Rayburn using logs from a sustained source does seem to be a step in this direction. Over the last couple of years I have tried to take specific steps to reduce my carbon footprint. I am pleased to say at the last count in early December my personal carbon footprint was 4.9 tonnes and reduced even further now since we bought the woodburner this to cook on and heat the house. The cooker performed especially well on Christmas day and delighted to report that our entire Christmas dinner was cooked using the Rayburn!

Graham - I had no idea you had a Rayburn now! We had one at lamberhurst for years, and loved every minute. There's nothing like a Sunday roast cooked on a range. Great blog - well done.
