The Getting A Life Event

I recently went to the Getting a Life event where MP Jonathan Shaw visited County Hall to hear about progress with the project in Kent and to meet young people with learning disabilities from across the area. The project is designed to support young people with learning disabilities looking to get in to work with support in skills, training and getting relevant work experience so they can decide how they want to live as they move in to adult life.

We were very fortunate to have cakes made by Freeways Catering and Tabletalk and saw the lovely pieces of pottery from Spectrum Pottery both of whome provide the work experience and chance to learn skills in a workplace and supported environment within a day service.

It was also good to meet and talk with young people from St Nicholas School in Canterbury.
