High Speed Commuter Trains

Last Thursday I was invited to travel on the new high speed Javelin train from London St. Pancras to the Ashford International station.

The train reached speeds of 140mph and completed the journey in 30 minutes. The new high speed train service will start running in December this year and will enormously enhance the economic potential of Canterbury and the whole east Kent community.

The new Class 395, high speed train service will operate to Canterbury West and this is in my division; thus it was excellent to be able to participate in the maiden journey last week.

I very much look forward to being able to using the new train service when travelling to London on KCC business after December this year.
